Halleck Creek Ranch is looking for active, energetic and caring volunteers to help support our amazing therapeutic horseback riding program. Our ranch is open five days a week (Tuesday through Saturday), and we are continuously working to onboard new volunteers to help us keep our program running smoothly and safely.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit therapeutic riding program located in the gorgeous hills of Nicasio (in West Marin, 30 minutes West of San Rafael, 30 minutes SW of Petaluma).
We are looking for Program Volunteers - no horse experience is required, all training is provided, and learning is encouraged! We will provide all the training you will need to engage, assist, and sidewalk our special riders, as well as groom and tack-up horses, and eventually even lead our gentle therapy horses with our riders aboard.
Volunteers as young as 14 are encouraged to apply. Volunteers must attend a scheduled orientation (now offered online,) complete the required paperwork, and attend initial and on-going training while they volunteer.

We believe that providing challenging experiences in a supportive environment will make a lasting, positive change in the attitudes and abilities of children and adults with disabilities, and in the people who care for them. Through the beneficial activity of therapeutic horseback riding, our participants learn new skills and expand their self-perception, enjoying a sense of freedom from their disabilities. We believe the families benefit from the relaxed atmosphere of the ranch and a valuable chance to network with other families and caregivers. We are committed to providing our program at low or no cost to our participants, so that the therapeutic benefits available through connections with people, animals, and nature are never denied a single individual in need.
Description
Halleck Creek Ranch invites people with disabilities, and their families, to live a "Life without barriers" through the beneficial activity of therapeutic horseback riding. Horseback riding promotes a unique sense of freedom and mobility, allowing riders to imagine the future, and to enjoy the present, in a way they never thought possible. For volunteers, their interactions with the riders teaches them that people with disabilities can do anything they want to, they just have to do it a little differently. The relationships between riders, volunteers, and horses establish connections that benefit our entire community.
