The City of Jersey City’s Division of Veterans Affairs plays a pivotal role in engaging and empowering veterans to connect with the Division for services and opportunities that add value to their daily activities, while also connecting them with resources that care for their most critical needs. The Division is committed to growing veteran constituent involvement through programming and events in partnership with local agencies to ensure comprehensive guidance. With a deep commitment to supporting veterans and their families, the VISTA member will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating educational and recreational activities for veterans to promote social and mental well-being. The VISTA will also be a valuable member of the team by developing and maintaining relationships with local businesses, organizations, and agencies to support veterans.
VISTA Responsibilities
The VISTA member will:
· Conduct a needs assessment that identifies gaps in resources for veterans and their families.
· Launch a comprehensive outreach and communication plan to increase awareness of services and opportunities.
· Collaborate with local businesses and organizations that hire veterans to encourage community engagement and volunteerism, leading to the establishment of a veteran volunteer Platoon.
