Become a Volunteer with the organization St. Barnabas Senior Services (SBSS) to assist with delivering meals to Seniors!

MISSION
St. Barnabas to empower a diverse community of older adults to Live Well, Feel Well and Age Well in the community with dignity and respect.

IMPACT
One out of every five California households don't know where or when their next meal is coming from. Your kindness and generosity will help ensure that seniors and those with disabilities have adequate food to eat!

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the volunteer is to provide and develop a brief connection with Senior participants by delivering meals to older adults.

  • This opportunity is in-person at SBSS Hollywood location.
  • Home delivered meals occur Monday-Friday from 8am-12pm.
  • Deliver daily hot meals using the delivery route provided.
  • Meals will be bagged and delivered to participants by knocking/ringing door for delivery.
  • Volunteers will be riding along with an SBSS staff member and helping deliver food to participants.
  • Volunteers are greatly needed for the holiday season. (Thanksgiving and Christmas)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Age:18+
  • Volunteers must be Vaccinated for Covid-19
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and car insurance.
  • Must complete an SBSS Background Check (Background Check to be paid by the volunteer and payable to SBSS via check or money order).
  • The Home Delivered Meals Coordinator will provide more information regarding registration, training, etc.

Description

Aging-in-place and wellness programs at Hollywood Senior Multipurpose Center (HSMPC) give seniors access to activities that promote healthy and active lifestyles. For seniors who are less independent, in-home support services help to prevent loneliness and isolation and serve as a lifeline of assistance.

ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS OF HSMPC
Active seniors can enjoy lunch at one of seven nutrition sites and may participate in Yoga classes, weekly movies, bingo days, poker and bridge clubs, a computer lab, lunchtime dances, a travel club, commercial acting classes and the chorale club.

For homebound seniors, aging-in-place programs such as home delivered meals, case management and our transportation program enable seniors to maintain their independence at home.
