About WindAid and the role:

7 million Peruvians do not have access to electricity. The people most in need of access to energy in Peru live in remote, rural locations and do not get any support from the Peruvian government. It is these communities we strive to work with, and with your help, we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the benefits of a life changing resource by harnessing the power of the wind.

WindAid is an environmental NGO and educational institute that offers an opportunity for students and professionals to provide a clean source of energy to remote communities in Peru by building and installing wind turbines. This Accounting and Finance Officer internship opportunity will help the WindAid Institute grow through maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and delivering a finance strategy. This is an unpaid opportunity that can be done either remotely or in person in Trujillo, Peru. 35 hours a week would be preferred, though shorter commitments can be discussed.

• Recording financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and maintaining ledgers.
• Developing budgets, forecasting financial outcomes, and analyzing variances.
• Preparing and filing tax returns, advising on tax planning strategies, and staying current with tax laws.
• Analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and making recommendations for improvement.
• Preparing audit schedules, providing necessary documentation, and addressing audit queries.
• Assisting in long-term financial planning, providing financial insights for decision-making.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Majoring/Majored in: Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• Relevant work experience as an accountant
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or other ERP systems) and Google Drive
• Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to organize and manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Previous volunteer experience
