Best Buddies in Iowa is the official charity partner for the upcoming Cedar Rapids Turkey Trot 5K! Best Buddies receives a donation for every event volunteer. You can have a direct impact on the nearly 1,500 current chapter members in Iowa and minimize the social isolation experienced by people with IDD. Volunteer roles include registration check-in, water station, food station, and course marshal (stationed along race route to direct runners). Volunteers also receive a free t-shirt! (Who doesn't love that?!)

We are the world's largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical, and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Best Buddies in Iowa provides one-to-one friendship, integrated employment, and leadership programs for individuals with and without IDD.

Description

Best Buddies in Iowa (BBIA) has 40+ school based chapters across the state and an adult program, Citizens, which fosters meaningful one-to-one friendships between peers with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We currently have 1,500 individuals participating in our friendship programs. Additionally, we provide leadership development trainings for student leaders and volunteers seeking to become ambassadors for inclusion in their community. In the Fall of 2022, BBIA expanded services to include job development and employment coaching services for people with IDD.
