Help spread smiles this Thanksgiving by decorating lunch bags for Meals on Wheels meal recipients! In addition to receiving the hot portion of the meal in a tray, Meals on Wheels recipients get the cold portion in a lunch bag. Add a fun and personal touch to their meals by decorating lunch bags with Thanksgiving designs. This is a perfect group or individual volunteer opportunity - help out from home, the office, or anywhere that works for you.
How to get started:
Gather your family, classroom, work team, faith community, or other group and get creative! Start by purchasing standard-sized white or brown paper lunch bags. Then have fun with stamps, markers, stickers, or any other art material that you can imagine. These bags will be used around Thanksgiving, so think turkeys, pumpkins, leaves, and other seasonal designs. We do ask that bags not include any religious or political designs or wording, thank you!
Please plan to drop off or mail your finished lunch bags by November 8 to give us time to distribute them to our member programs. If you would like to drop off your finished bags at our office in Minneapolis, please contact us first at Kala@meals-on-wheels.com or 612-623-3363 to schedule a drop off. If you would like to mail your finished bags, please address them here:

Description
Meals on Wheels is a community-based service that provides fresh, nutritious meals delivered directly to the homes of seniors and individuals with disabilities throughout the Twin Cities. In addition to regularly providing healthy food, caring volunteers provide social connection that helps meal recipients remain living independently in their own homes.
With the help of Meals on Wheels programs, seniors and people with disabilities get the nourishment and human connection needed to support daily activities, while reducing the need for medical support. For some recipients, these daily meals are the difference between living in their own homes and moving to a nursing home.
Meals on Wheels could not exist without the help of volunteers who deliver the meals and donors who help those who cannot afford to pay for the meals.
Every year volunteers deliver more than a million meals in the Metro area. With over 32 locations in the Twin Cities there is sure to be a program near you! Please join us!
