The Unified track & field District Manager oversees and manages program activities within the assigned schools. They will report directly to SONC staff regarding the status of each school program, along with necessary paperwork. They will be the liaison between SONC and the schools for which they are assigned.
Program Overview
Special Olympics North Carolina Unified Track and Field is a fully-inclusive co-ed interscholastic high school track and field program which successfully facilitates social inclusion by bringing together students with and without intellectual disabilities. Students train together and compete as teammates. Unified Track and Field teams are regarded like every other interscholastic sports team at the high school.
Time Commitment
2-4 hours per week for 8 weeks minimum
- Position begins in January and runs through May
- No prior track related knowledge is needed but preferred
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the District Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned participating schools and all Unified track & field related inquiries within assigned schools of the county.
- Maintain frequent communication with Unified track coaches at assigned schools before, during and at the conclusion of the season.
- Collect practice schedules, competition schedules and final rosters from assigned schools.
- Communicate track meet information to coaches.
- Serve as liaison between SONC and assigned Unified track & field teams.
- Regularly communicate with SONC regarding participation and completion of necessary forms.

As a Unified Track & Field District Manager, I understand that:
- I am responsible for all expenses that may procure through my voluntary role at SONC
- I am committing to be actively engaged throughout the duration of my commitment
- I am required to remain objective while communicating with coaches on any issues that may arise
