Recruiting Organization: Junior Achievement of Central Maryland, Inc.

At JA Finance Park students have the rare opportunity to experience their personal financial futures first-hand. Following a series of in-class lessons, the JA Workforce and Innovation Center brings education to life and provides students with an immersive learning experience that enables them to develop skills to successfully navigate today’s complex economic environment and discover how decisions today can impact tomorrow.

The interactive simulation guides them through an exploration of salaries, budgeting, taxes, savings, charitable giving, investments, and more. The complexity of choices and compromises requires students to use critical-thinking skills to be successful within the mini-city and come face-to-face with how their decisions today can impact their future.

Business volunteers assist students within JA Finance Park storefronts, helping them to explore budget categories and allocate their earnings. Volunteers work with a small group of students to guide them in creating a balanced household budget and paying their monthly bills. Junior Achievement will provide all the training you need to prepare for your day. You are invited to share your perspective and experience on personal finance concepts, as well as subject matter in a specific area of finance or work readiness expertise such as investing, saving, or career exploration. The volunteer experience typically lasts about 5 hours.
