These volunteers will be trained by MGZ staff to assist with the following projects:
- Horticultural projects such as raking leaves, removing leaf litter and weeds, watering plants, and disposing of leaf litter
- Organizing animal carriers, animal enrichment items, nets, and other items
- Assisting Education staff with their projects
- Assisting with administrative projects such as organizing files and documents; updating animal information in an animal records keeping system called ZIMS
- Assisting with guest services
We are looking for volunteers who have:
- A strong commitment to advancing the zoo’s goals in supporting animal conservation, education, and welfare.
- A positive demeanor
- The ability to be focused and detail-oriented
- A positive work ethic
- Teamwork ability
- A negative tuberculin (TB) skin test (or lung x-ray) result was conducted within the last year and must have taken COVID vaccinations.
2 Shifts
- afternoon / 12:30 PM to 04:45 PM PST
- morning / 08:00 AM to 11:45 AM PST

Description
Micke Grove Zoo is a captive wildlife center that is owned and run by a County government in California. This facility breeds threatened wildlife in captivity to support their conservation. Conservation education programs are conducted at the zoo to promote local knowledge on wildlife conservation. Volunteers are trained at this facility and some of them are hired on a regular basis.
