A resource volunteer within The Shopp is a dedicated individual who plays a vital role in procuring basic essentials and suitcases for the nonprofit. Their primary responsibilities include:

  1. Donation Coordination: Resource volunteers work to collect, sort, and organize donations of clothing, toiletries, and other essential items from generous community members, ensuring that all contributions are in good condition and suitable for distribution.

  2. Inventory Management: They maintain a well-organized inventory of resources to facilitate easy access and distribution to those in need. This involves tracking the availability of items and restocking as necessary.

  3. Quality Control: Resource volunteers help maintain the high quality of donations by inspecting items for wear and tear, cleanliness, and suitability. They ensure that everything provided to clients meets the boutique's standards.

  4. Suitcase Preparation: When suitable, resource volunteers assemble and prepare suitcases or bags filled with essential items for individuals facing difficult circumstances. These suitcases often include clothing, hygiene products, and other necessities.

  5. Client Assistance: Resource volunteers may interact directly with clients, helping them select the items they need and providing guidance on how to use the resources effectively.

  6. Community Engagement: They may also engage with the local community to raise awareness, solicit donations, and encourage others to support The Shopp's mission.

  7. Advocacy: Resource volunteers advocate for the importance of providing basic essentials and support to individuals affected by sex trafficking, domestic violence, homelessness, and addiction, promoting empathy and understanding in the community.

Resource volunteers at The Shopp play a crucial role in ensuring that those in need have access to essential items, while also upholding the dignity and respect of the individuals they serve. Their efforts help restore hope and self-sufficiency to the most vulnerable members of our community.

About NORTHWEST COLLABORATIVE

Location:

PO BOX 12564, PORTLAND, OR 97212, US

Mission Statement

Empowering lives through clothing and essential resources, The Shopp Thrift Boutique intentionally repurposes donations to provide dignity and hope to those affected by sex trafficking, domestic violence, homelessness, and addiction.

Description

We are a not-for-profit thrift shop and currently partner with other like-minded organizations in the Portland area to provide clothing and basic essentials for survivors coming out of sex trafficking as well as other inhumane and abusive situations.

Community

We believe in the strength of community. We rely on donations from those in our city so that we can continue to provide resources to those in need.

Economic

Your dollar goes further at The Shopp. Not only can you score vintage items for less than you would other places, but you can feel good about how you are spending your money.

If you want to support a greater need, check out our CASES initiative. We have given out over 75 suitcases and hundreds of individual shopping experiences.

Volunteers are the key to our success by helping us process donations, organize The Shopp and welcome the community.
