The Friends of Wood County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a nonprofit organization which lends support to the Wood County CASA Program through fundraising, promoting public awareness, and monitoring the fiscal and administrative needs of the organization.
We are currently recruiting Board Members who live and/or work in Wood County.
Mission Statement for Friends of Wood County CASA
The Friends of Wood County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a nonprofit organization which lends support to the Wood County Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian ad Litem Program through fundraising, promoting public awareness, and monitoring the fiscal and administrative needs of the organization.
Board members:
- Serve as a liaison between the Wood County CASA/GAL and the community
- Determine specific objectives of the Wood County CASA/GAL program
- Assist in the formulation and execution of programs to meet community needs
- Provide for the financial needs of the Wood County CASA/GAL by developing fundraising programs
- Attend regular and special meetings of the Board and its committees
Board members are asked to become actively involved in some or all of the following activities:
- Public relations
- Fundraising
- Long-term program planning
- Volunteer recruitment and recognition
- Board member recruitment
- Financial management of the 501(c)(3)

Mission Statement
The mission of the Wood County Court Appointed Special Advocate/ Guardian ad litem Program is to recruit, train, guide, monitor and maintain qualified CASA/GAL volunteers (Court Appointed Special Advocates/Guardians ad Litem), who are appointed by the Wood County Juvenile Court Judge as Guardians ad Litem to advocate for the best interests of children who are before the court as a result of abuse, neglect and dependency as defined by state child welfare laws. CASA/GAL volunteers serve as an independent voice throughout the Juvenile Court proceedings, until a safe and permanent home is found for each child.
