FY24 Volunteer Demonstrator: Historic Arts and Trade Skills

Homestead National Historical Park is looking for skilled volunteers, who can demonstrate various historic arts and trade skills. These volunteers will help guests understand the various skills needed at the beginning of the Homestead Era. Volunteers will have the opportunity to schedule times to demonstrate their skill on the grounds of Homestead National Historical Park and at Park events. Volunteers will work with the Volunteer Coordinator to find times, dates, and special events for demonstrations. Demonstrators will be responsible for bringing their own equipment and supplies. Demonstrators might be asked to participate in events and exhibitions that feature multiple demonstration booths. Some examples of historic arts and trade skills include: weaving, needlework, soap making, iron working, chair caning, canning, etc. Any skill or art that would been used in the mid-late 1800s qualifies.
