Become a classroom volunteer with the Transitional Studies Tutoring Center!

The Transitional Studies Tutoring Center at Clark College provides learning support to help adult students improve basic reading, writing and math as well as English communication skills. Currently, there is a need for volunteer tutors to assist literacy students and English language learners in the classroom.

Volunteers need to have a good command of the English language and be able to commit to two to three hours per week for at least ten weeks.

Opportunities available in classrooms, one-on-one or in small group settings.

The Transitional Studies Tutoring Center provides volunteer tutors to assist students in attaining the reading, writing, math, and English Language skills they need to achieve their educational, career, and personal goals.

Description

The Transitional Studies Tutoring Center provides tutoringliteracy and English language tutoring to help students to improve basic reading, writing and math as well as English speaking skills. Our tutors work with a very diverse population - adult students of all ages, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Tutoring opportunities are available in classrooms, one-on-one and small group settings. We are looking for volunteers that have a good command of English, are patient, flexible, and can take the initiative. We prefer volunteers who can commit to 3-4 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks. We can accommodate most times within a tutor’s schedule so long as s/he is available at a regular day and time.
