Purpose:
Clayton Community Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Founded in 1989 Clayton Community Library Foundation is an organization of dedicated volunteers working to provide funding that supports the Clayton Community Library. The activities and affairs of the corporation are conducted, and all corporate powers are exercised by or under the direction of the Board of Directors.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• In concert with the Contra Costa County Library, support the Clatyon Community Library with funding for programs, activities, books, equipment, supplies, furniture, technology, and library services. The goal of these efforts is to offer the people of the community a place to pursue their passions, engage in lifelong learning, interact with others, and promote the free exchange of information and understanding.
• To conduct, manage and control the affairs and activities of the corporation and to make such rules and regulations consistent with the laws and Bylaws of the corporation.
• To execute the fiduciary responsibility of the management of all donations, gifts, grants or other funding pursuant to the laws and Bylaws of the corporation.
• To meet once a month on a regular basis to create policies governing the actions of the Board, its elected officers and the general function of the Foundation consistent with the laws and Bylaws. The Board also conducts special meetings and annual meetings to inform the membership at large of activities and progress of the Board and fundraising efforts.
• To offer and expand membership in the Foundation and determine classes of membership, fees, qualifications for and privileges of membership.
• To offer opportunities for public donations to the Foundation through such activities as book sales, community outreach programs, social media outreaches, and community events.
• To provide opportunities for volunteers to engage in community service through help with book sales, library events and programs, library support services, manage book donations including storage and sorting, and aid with community support programs.
• The Board position on the Clayton Community Library Foundation is a working position. This means that Board members are expected to fully participate in Foundation activities and provide information and leadership to its membership and volunteers.
