Mission Statement
The mission of Adult Basic Education in Minnesota is to provide adults with educational opportunities to acquire and improve the literacy skills needed to become self-sufficient and to participate effectively as workers, family members, and citizens.
Description
We provide English language skills to adults at various English language proficiency levels and from various different cultures. Volunteers work with a supervising teacher that provides lessons and guidance working one-on-one or with small groups. Both virtual and in-person opportunities available. We currently have a need for evening volunteers on Wednesdays from 5:30-8:00pm. Volunteers are asked to complete 4 hours of training if working in-person with learners and up to 12 hours of training for virtual tutors. All required trainings are offered for free through the local non-profit Literacy MN.
