ORGANIZATION: ART IN THE PARK

Hello, we are in need of an energetic teaching artisit to work with k3-5th grade youth in our arts class in a charter school setting with the ability to compensate $20.00 an hour. This position is Monday -Tuesday 9am-3pm.

Backround in art a must. Resume and portfolio needed.

The volunteer will need to be cleared by the DOE which includes fingerprinting and will include interview.

Mission Statement

Art in the Park exposes urban underserved youth to all forms of art programing while in an open space to help combat mental disparities. We conduct programs in open spaces.

Description

Art in the Park is a non-profit organization which exposes urban underserved youth and their families to all forms of art programing to help combat mental disparities. AITP(Art in the Park) goal of making it accessible to children of all ages for free in their neighborhood park and open space. Since 2015, Art in the Park has served over 1000 children and their families throughout the East Harlem neighborhoods primarily zip code 10035. Participants are exposed to therapeutic art activities, jazz, classical music, dance, poetry and healthy eating programs and Autism family fun days. Since 2017 we have also started a Beautification & healthy eating projects where community members planted over 3000 flower bulbs and donated over 1000 to other local non-profits and community groups. AITP has provided healthy food preparation and eating workshops, we have also partnered with other local businesses & Healthy Department of NYC to provide health bucks and education to our community members. In addition we've also have completed many collaborations with other local organizations with healthy food campaignsArt in the Park always provides healthy eating choices for youth and their families at all of our events. Since 2017 we have partnered with local business and NYC agencies to provide healthy food options. Many families we serve are not exposed and educated about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
