Do you have a spare bedroom in your home? Finally Family Homes is currently searching for Host Homes in Santa Clarita and the surrounding areas. A Host Home is a private home with an available bedroom and a heart open to providing a supportive place for a young adult (18-24) facing homelessness to get established in life. Host Homes give young adults a safe place to build independence and form healthy relationships.

Members of the community (hosts) volunteer to open their homes to youth for up to 6 months at a time. During their stay, both the hosts and youth are supported by Finally Family Homes. Hosts also receive a $750 monthly stipend.

The young adults who stay in Host Homes are referred to as guests. Our guests are youth ages 18-24 who have experienced child welfare and homeless systems. Most often these young adults left foster care without being reunited with the birth parents or being adopted. At no fault of their own, they have no place to call home.

20% of these youth become homeless the day they age out. And another 10% experience homelessness in the following 18 months. Many of these youth are ambitious, hard-working college students, or were.. until they had to drop out due to housing instability.

In order to be approved as a Host Home provider, you must:

• Complete all required training and commitments within the Host Homes community.
• Agree to undergo a background check (for anyone 18 or older living in the home)
• Provide for your guest without the need for financial assistance.
• Be able to commit to hosting a guest for at least six months.
• Have no children under the age of 18 living in the home.
• Have a vacant, private, clean space for your guest.
• Currently reside in Santa Clarita or the surrounding areas.
• Be 25 years or older.
