Hospice Volunteers are Special People and an Important Part of Our Team!

There are so many different things that a hospice volunteer can do to provide valuable assistance. Volunteering could involve directly assisting patients and families, or it could be working behind the scenes in our office.

Opportunities:

Patient Support
* Friendly visits
* Sitting with patients
* Reading the newspaper or inspiration texts
* Sharing hobbies like scrapbooking, working puzzles or singing
* Running errands

Office Support:
* Filing
* Mailings
* Data input
* Bereavement support activities

In addition to receiving an orientation to the Hamilton Health Care System and volunteer benefits, Hospice volunteers also receive basic orientation to the Hospice philosophy and the volunteer’s role as part of the Hospice team.

We are a hospital based, not for profit hospice serving six counties in North Georgia. We are the oldest hospice in the region and the first hospice in Georgia to be certifed by Medicare in 1984. We are under one director with home health to provide a smooth tranistion of care as patient needs change.
