Side Walker at Therapeutic Horseback Riding Center

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Riding Unlimited

All of our volunteers start out as side walkers. The role of the side walker is to assist the rider while riding the horse during the lesson. Side walkers may help stabilize the rider, repeat directions, give simple reminders or keep their attention.
Horse handlers are responsible for the horse during lessons. This includes grooming, tacking, untacking and leading the horse during the lesson. We reserve this role for volunteers who have more experience with horses or have been through extra training with us and have served as a side walker.
