We are Mentor's R Us Inc., a dedicated organization committed to empowering individuals to inspire and model sustainable life skills through the engagement in hands on experiences. We are currently seeking talented and motivated volunteers to join us.

We are excited to offer volunteer positions for General Contractor to renovate our premises, making accommodations for life skill courses, as we provide affordable housing for individuals who have been displaced due to unaffordability.

General Contractor Qualifications

• A high school diploma is required, bachelor’s degree preferred
• 1 year of prior experience as a general contractor or in a similar role required, 3+ years of experience preferred
• General contractor's license preferred
• Adherence to onsite safety protocols
• In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and the entire building process, including building codes, blueprints, permits, construction equipment, material resources, construction processes, and project management principles
• Has basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work or in a group
• Physical stamina to lift at least 40 lbs and use heavy equipment
• Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and time-management skills
• Must be reliable

Responsibilities

• Project management and strong leadership skills in managing multiple projects
• Prepare estimates, bids, budgets, negotiations, and conflict resolutions
• Able to read/interpret plans and specifications
• Ability to multi-task in a challenging and deadline-oriented work environment
• Supervise and communicate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants as well as internal departments
• Prepare construction, look ahead schedules and procurement of materials
• Site and building safety procedures
