We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic individual to fulfill the role of Breast Cancer Companion.The primary responsibility of this position is to provide emotional support, companionship, and practical assistance to individuals affected by breast cancer. Sisters Helping Sisters will assist patients before, during, and after medical treatments, offering comfort, encouragement, and reassurance.
Responsibilities:
1. Emotional Support: Offer a listening ear and provide emotional support to patients and their families throughout their breast cancer journey.
2. Companionship: Accompany patients to medical appointments, treatment sessions, and support group meetings, providing company and offering comfort.
3. Practical Assistance: Help with practical tasks such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, childcare and grocery shopping to ensure patients' daily needs are met.
4. Education and Information: Provide information and resources about breast cancer treatment options, support services, and community resources to patients and their families (RN, LN Volunteers ONLY)
5. Advocacy: Advocate for patients' needs and rights within healthcare settings, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support.
6. Emotional Well-being Check-ins: Regularly check in with patients to assess their emotional well-being and identify any concerns or needs that may arise.
7. Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patients' personal and medical information.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a caregiving or support role, preferably with individuals affected by breast cancer or other illnesses (Preferred but not required)
- Excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to patient care.
- Knowledge and understanding of breast cancer treatment and support options (RN,LN only)
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

Description
Walk by Faith (WBF) was founded in honor Marian Elizabeth Atwater, who battled cancer from 1996-2001.
WBF, Operated by Wellness Bridge Foundation provides unique holistic breast cancer support services to women, which include emotional support, free transportation services, whole comfort kits, care counseling, nutrition and fitness programs, and spiritual counseling. Our proactive approach and practical involvement provide families and individuals with the stable support they need to navigate through emerging uncertainties created by cancer. We work with a network of volunteers, corporate partners, and local charity groups to achieve our goals.
