Being a Member of the Board for Friends of PPLD is FUN! This board is composed of dynamic people who love books, love people, and love our libraries! They also love having a good time and making a difference while they do it! Does that sound like you?

Mission: the Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District supports the Pikes Peak Library District in providing programs and spaces that cultivate belonging, personal growth, and strong communities. We achieve this by: • Growing and retaining a thriving diverse membership • Recruiting and leading strong, dedicated volunteers • Providing affordable books for library patrons through our bookstores and book sales • Raising money through book sales programs membership and donations

Description

The Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District was established on March 11, 1955 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Colorado Springs Public Library, and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1969.
We support the Pikes Peak Library District by serving as community advocates, raising funds to enhance library services and programs, promoting the love of reading and books, and recirculating materials in environmentally responsible ways.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 21
  • Orientation or Training
  • Monthly Board meetings last approx. 2 hours. Additional work time will range between 5 and 10 hours per week, dependent upon the season, committee(s) chosen and whether fulfilling an At-Large or Executive Board position. Term is 2 years.
  • Must reside within the area served by the Pikes Peak Library District. Must be a member (or willing to become a member) of Friends of PPLD; dues are $25/year.
