Volunteer Healthcare Clinic

For 55 years, the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic has been helping those most in need have access to high quality health care and prevention education and it has all been accomplished through the generosity of volunteer healthcare professionals.

We Need: Dietitians for Nutrition Education/Awareness and Counseling

The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic is hoping to add at least 3 Registered Dietitians to our volunteer pool, who can each work once a month. COVID-19 has reduced our pool of volunteer dietitians while the need for nutrition counseling has increased.

We currently hold 3 heath care clinics per week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm (or until the last patient is seen). We have both telehealth and in-person patient visits. We are seeking dietitians to volunteer at the clinic doing telehealth appointments with our Chronic Disease Management clinic patients. Ideally, this shift would be at 6pm on a Monday evening, but we can work with your schedule.

About 70% of VHC patients speak Spanish so Spanish/English proficiency or the willingness to volunteer with an interpreter would be important.

About Volunteer Healthcare Clinic

4215 Medical Parkway, Austin, TX 78756, US

Mission Statement

The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic provides free, high quality healthcare to some of Austin's most vulnerable residents.

In 1966, a dedicated group quietly began finding healthcare for people who had no access to medical services. Many of Austin's working poor such as manual laborers must choose between food for their families and medical care. The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic, formerly known as Caritas Clinic, provides high quality healthcare for this uninsured population. With a small staff, our clinic is operated almost entirely by volunteer doctors, nurses, interpreters and office aides. Our volunteers range from young adults to retired medical professionals sharing their time and talent with some of Austin's most vulnerable residents.
