Come volunteer with our medical escort or friendly helping programs where you will develop a one-on-one relationship with an older adult in Newton. These opportunities are in person

• Friendly Helping: help older adults with tasks that can be completed in 1-3 visits. Time is flexible.
• Medical Escorts: accompany older adults to medical appointments. Must have weekday availability.
• Some locations (not all) for both programs may require travelling to the older adult by car.

FriendshipWorks was founded 35 years ago to help reduce social isolation, enhance the quality of life, and preserve the dignity of older adults in Greater Boston. This work is accomplished by recruiting volunteers of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds who provide friendship, advocacy, education, assistance, and emotional support. Volunteers are critical to helping address the serious health risks posed by social isolation in the elder community, including accelerating brain and cardiovascular aging.
