Apex Hospice is looking for Veterans and civilians that want to honor and care for veteran patients in hospice. We have opportunities for caring for veterans throughout 16 counties in the Chicagoland area.
This is an opportunity to honor and understand our veteran patients. It is true that Veterans have a different end of life experience than those that have not seen active service. Because of this, they need a special kind of care that leaves space for listening and understanding and possibly reminiscing about their years in service.
These patients may also have psychosocial needs that are unique to them and to their experiences.
If you are a veteran, a family member of a person in the service or someone who desires to learn and honor veterans, please consider this volunteer opportunity.
Volunteering with veteran or non veteran patients and families that are facing terminal illness can be one of the most rewarding ways to spend your time.
Volunteer opportunities for veterans include visiting directly with patients, honoring veterans with a military service certificate and pin, special veteran events when available.
Additional materials and training are also available through the We Honor Veterans Web site.
