Cowpens National Battlefield Maintenance Volunteer Description
Cowpens National Battlefield is seeking well qualified, motivated Volunteers (VIPs) to join the Maintenance Department Staff in maintaining the historic and natural resources on the 843-acre National Battlefield.
Volunteers will be part of a team that includes other VIPs and National Park Service Staff. The VIP will work side-by-side to help with routine maintenance on The Cowpens National Battlefield. The VIP will be under direct supervision of the Lead Maintenance Ranger and the Park’s Facilities Manager. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the initial recruitment and placement and will be the person of contact for all questions that may arise during the VIPs tenure.
Duties Include, But Not Limited To:
-mowing
-weed eating
-leaf blowing
-cleaning buildings
-custodial and rubbish removal
-painting
-staining
-other basic maintenance duties as assigned
VIPs will be provided with all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for the work assigned and will be provided with Department of the Interior (DOI) / National Park Service (NPS) trainings that include:
-an introduction to the park grounds and facilities
-a history of the January 17, 1781 Battle of Cowpens
Training for use of essential tools will also be provided when required.
