Who Are We?

MAKEXAFRICA collaborates with volunteers to enhance literacy and healthcare outcomes for vulnerable rural adolescent girls and teenage mothers in Uganda's Busoga region. Investing in girls is pivotal for reducing gender inequality and women's vulnerability in the long term. Where Do We Operate?

Our international volunteer program is situated in Jinja, Uganda, where our field office is located. International volunteers have the flexibility to choose office-based or community-based roles. At our office, we primarily focus on strategy and process management, while most of the action happens in the community.

What We Do?

Our core focus is on health and literacy among adolescent girls and teenage mothers. In the realm of health, we promote awareness from a perspective of rights and responsibilities. We organize community-based health camps, providing girls with opportunities to interact with each other and mentors, fostering learning and transformation. In the literacy sphere, we conduct hands-on innovation camps where adolescent girls and teenage mothers acquire skills in various trades, including baking, hairdressing, tailoring, and craft-making. International volunteers can take on roles as organizers, mentors, speakers, and overseers during these camp events.
