SARA on Call Weekend:

  • New Castle County, Kent County and Sussex County
  • New Castle County SARA’s must respond to Christiana Hospital, Wilmington Hospital and Nemours Children’s Hospital and New Castle County police departments.
  • Sussex and Kent County SARA’s must respond to hospitals in Kent and Sussex counties which include Bayhealth Hospital, Beebe Healthcare, TidalHealth, Bayhealth Sussex Campus, Bayhealth Milton and Kent and Sussex police departments.
  • SARA’s working this program are considered consultants not employees.
  • SARA’s will be paid stipends by the finance department on a monthly basis via ACH (employees must provide ACH Banking Info).
  • Mandatory SARC advocate training is required before registering for weekend program shifts and the date/time of training will be announced.
  • Only Supervisor on Call can register and unregister SARA’s for these specific weekend shifts.
  • SARA’s must sign up for the entire block of shifts, Friday 6 pm through Sunday 11:59 pm to be eligible for the program.
  • When an advocate registers and covers these 9 SARA on Call weekend shifts, they will receive a stipend of $500. Please see details below for the weekend program.
  • When a SARA is called for a hospital accompaniment, they respond to the hospital, after the accompaniment the SARA will immediately enter a call report 1 and 2 then notify the Supervisor on Call that they will take a three-hour break and after the break, will continue with their SARA on Call duties.

Description

Hello, we are a 24/7 Sexual Assault Response Center (SARC) that provides a 24/7 rape crisis hotline and a resource/respite center for survivors of sexual violence and those impacted by it in New Castle County DE. We like to invite volunteers that are good listeners, non- judgmental, compassionate and ready to serve those impacted the crime of sexual violence to join us. Either by answering the 24/7 hotline calls, becoming a trained sexual assault response advocate (SARA’s) who will assist with the rape crisis process or by being a support person for our resource/respite center. Having prior work/volunteering experience in the sexual violence field helpful but not required. Free 50 hour trainings will be provided. Volunteers must be 18 years and up. Volunteers must agree to have a criminal back ground check. We look forward to hearing from you. Able to work from home must have a compter and secured internet ( No public wifi's).
