Childcare aid for a licensed Early Childhood Education Program. Must be comfortable working
with children 3 months to 5 years old. The ideal Childcare Aid is energetic, compassionate and
responsible. Childcare Aids provide support to the classroom teacher by reading a book, leading
a group activity, helping with lunch, and more.

Shifts available Monday - Friday between 9 am and 5 pm. Largest need is in the morning. Commitment of 1 - 2 days per week for 2 - 4 hours per day.

Mission Statement

Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport, Inc. provides basic literacy and life skills training to low-income women using a holistic approach within a compassionate, supportive environment. All women are welcome without regard for race, religion, color, creed, sexual orientation or national origin.

Description

MLC is an adult literacy center. The majority of our students are English language learners. Students seek MLC to learn English, and/or earn their high school diploma. MLC offers a variety of flexible programs to meet the needs of our diverse students. Part-time and full-time academic programs are provided at the Center along with support services.

At Mercy Learning Center, women study: English, Math, Science, Social studies, Computers, and life skills
While being supported by: MLC’s Early Childhood Education Program, social services and case management, job and college counseling, enrichment opportunities
Ultimately, women are able to: Earn a high school equivalency diploma, learn job skills, prepare for the U.S. citizenship exam

Mercy Learning Center students represent over 45 different countries of origin. While they are diverse in age and educational ability, all students are undereducated and motivated to learn and achieve. All women who attend MLC have made the courageous decision to empower themselves through education to improve their quality of life.
