YMC is a mentoring-driven community developed to awaken young adults from at-risk regions to their power, unique gifts, and purpose by matching them with caring adult mentors and placing that pair within a structured group dynamic that builds the emotional resiliency skills and confidence in adolescents to self-actualize into adulthood. Mentors join in-person programs that run for nine months and involve full group sessions the first week of the month and Mentor-Mentee pairs meet independently on the third week of every month. Each program occurs on the same day of the week, every other week throughout the duration of the school year. Each volunteer Mentor is matched with a High School student, in a safe community setting. Programs are hosted at our Youth Center and other partner schools and community center organizations.
We believe that when a caring adult mentor shows up for a young person in a consistent way, they change two lives. Our Gift Centered Mentoring model allows for the healing to begin, as Mentors walk in the path together with their Mentee. We only ask Mentors for four hours a month - you show up, be real, and YMC takes care of the rest.
Youth Mentoring Connection (YMC) is partnering with multiple community-based organizations to implement mentoring programs running throughout 2024. Prospective Mentors complete our screening process, including an application and interview, then are invited to Training, and paired with a Mentee in our program launching during the same start date.

Description
YMC is the bridge between the rising generation of LA adolescents and experienced leaders growing LA companies. The programs and community YMC facilities builds emotional resiliency in Angelenos, equipping them to meet the next set of challenges facing young adults.
YMC helps 350 marginalized LA youth annually through a community of mentors, staff, and other community organizations in which youth are empowered to create a future in which they thrive.
