Our seasonal museum, open May through October, is looking for volunteer greeters. Hours of operation are Thursday through Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm. Volunteer greeters work alongside museum tour guides. The role of greeters are to welcome museum visitors, provide basic context about the museum, and engage in friendly conversation if the tour guides are currently occupied giving a tour. While there are no guests waiting, greeters can read or use wi-fi enabled devices.

The museum is open on a given day from 11 am to 4 pm, but volunteer greeters do not need to be present for the entire day. It is common for greeters to be at the museum for two hours of the shift, perhaps 12 to 2 or 1 to 3.

It's an easy and fun volunteer opportunity. If you are friendly, easygoing, and like museums, you'd be a great fit! No special skills needed!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Warner House Association is to preserve and interpret the 1716-18 brick structure and surrounding urban landscape. The emphasis of the interpretative program is on the stories of those who occupied the house from 1718 to 1930, with the expectation that our efforts will contribute to a greater understanding of the people of Portsmouth, the Piscataqua region, and America. The mission shall be carried out by the following means: Preserving and maintaining the 1716-18 brick house, a National Historic Landmark, with its original architecture, paneling, murals and collections, according to guidelines established by the Secretary of the Interior. Providing accurate interpretation of more than 200 years of family occupancy based on documentary and archaeological evidence and using original and period furnishings to tell the story. Inspiring a diverse audience through guided tours, programs, exhibitions and publications grounded in current scholarly research.

The Warner House Museum is an historical house in downtown Portsmouth, NH. It is a seasonal museum, open from May to October. The museum gives guided tours and puts on various historical programming. The house has served as a museum for over 90 years. The museum is one of the few remaining houses in America that served as a British Royal Governor's Mansion. It also contains the oldest murals in America as well as many priceless artifacts. Our current goals include growing our community outreach and strengthening the museum association's financial position.
