Share the love and comfort of your therapy dog or other therapy pet with our hospice patients!
Compassus Hospice is seeking friendly, well-mannered, registered therapy pets to join our team. Along with their compassionate handler, a therapy pet brings joy, peace and comfort to our hospice patients. Volunteers are a vital component of the hospice team and are greatly appreciated for the companionship and supportive presence that they provide to our patients.
We have home patients as well as patients in assisted living facilities. We also have a monthly grief support group where pet therapy would be beneficial. The volunteer opportunity is flexible and based on your availability and the needs of the patient.
For the protection of our patients all pets MUST be certified through an approved pet therapy certifying organization, such as Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International, AKC Therapy Dog Program and Alliance of Therapy Dogs. We can even help you get started with the process!
