ORGANIZATION: Teamchildren

Our Teens
Every year hundreds of teens volunteer and make a difference, join our team.

Imagine not having access to a computer at home to complete your homework, look for jobs, apply for college and scholarships, staying in communication with friends and family, finding badly needed socail services, paying your bills on line, staying in communication with teachers and doctors. Believe it or not there are still thousands of children in our region that do not have a computer at home or working computers in their schools.

TeamChildren goal is to End the Digital Divide for as many families, schools and organizations that we can.

The project requires lots of hard work but is ultimately rewarding. The project requires team work, communication, commitment, and extraordinary caring for others

Teamchildren is this region's leading non-profit organization helping to reuse computers companies, schools or individuals are discarding.

Imagine the smile on the face of the over 70,000 children we have helped provide access to today's technology. Imagine the hours of fun they are having sitting down at their keyboards exploring worlds of knowledge and opportunity previously never even imagined

Over 85% of the computers we distribute help low-income women raising children alone in poverty. Now these families no longer have to stay after school or wait in lines at the library. They are learning in the comfort and safety of their homes...You can make that difference.

We have demonstrated that a few dedicated people have the ability in this country to ensure that every child has the technological tools and opportunities to compete effectively in school and the marketplace.

As this global digital revolution in communication expands so does the gap between those that have and those that have not. Through recycling technology for reuse we can narrow and possibly even eliminate that gap, leveling the playing field for all children.

If you have a skill you would like to contribute we need all the folks we can find. Our new goal is to dramatically expand our efforts.

We need people who want to learn to lead this global revolution. People who want to help fix computers or learn how to fix computers.

We want people who can manage teams or wants to learn to be an awesome communicator and manager.

We also need people to:

stuff letters and manage mass mailings, and all things administrative

fund raisers,

grant writers,

bookkeepers/accountants,

graphic and video artist.

and anyone who wants to learn and make a difference.

Our volunteers range from teens to senior citizens.

About Teamchildren

Location:

Mission Statement

Our gola is to equip every family, school and organization the the tools, training and technology they need to ensure that every child has an equal opportunity to reach their maximum potential.

Our main initiatives are:

\

Rolfing/massage for babies, children and families. Touch is an extraordinary tool to enhance a child’s growth and development and is critical in the beginning of life. Despite the common sense of it, the practice is far too uncommon.

We promote the benefits of massage for babies & children through our website www.newbabymassage.com We also have a free download Your Baby’s first massage.

We are video taping the benefits of Rolfing for babies and children as well. Our founder Robert Toporek studied directly with Dr Ida P Rolf the founder for over 4 years. He was and continues to be the project manager to document, and promote the benefits of Rolfing for babies, children and families. WWW.Mypostureperfect.com.We are beginning a new era of work in training and developing other practitioners...

Baby & Child Massage: To promote the book published by our founder Robert Toporek "The New Book of Baby & Child Massage". And to train parents in this powerfully effective hands on approach to raising their babies & children.

To literally End the Digital Divide. Our unique approach of providing computers to families in need gives everyone an opportunity to contribute and make a difference. We have now collected, refurbished and distributed over 10,000 low cost computers to families, schools and organizations throughout our region and around the world.

Our donors of equipment benefit because they know their donation is going to increase the brainpower of the next generation instead of clogging our landfills.

Our volunteer’s benefit by learning more than they ever dreamed about repairing computers and helping a small non profit make a huge difference. They do this by directly working with other volunteers as well as directly with our recipients.

Our financial donors benefit by seeing how sometimes just a little contribution can make a big difference.

Our recipients are asked to contribute financially because we believe in this program being a hand up not a hand out. They are also required to volunteer for a minimum of two hours this helps us help other families. We also require everyone to write both an initial letter requesting the computer and a follow up letter one month later that helps us document the difference we are making.

Project Playground. Though we successfully built a playground in one of the worst drug neighborhoods in North Philly the City ofPhiladelphia in its infinite wisdom tore it down. Our goal is to one day rebuild that playground.

Within each of these initiatives we need volunteers specific to each mission as well as administrative volunteers that can relate to our project as a whole instead of as a sum of the parts.

We need financial volunteers to administer our finances;

We need administrative volunteers that can manage the flow of paper work.

We need media, graphics, video and any other volunteers that just want to make a difference.
