VITAS Healthcare is looking for a Bereavement Caller volunteer to check in on bereaved family members after a hospice patient's death. These phone calls go a long way in making a difference in the lives of those coping with grief.
This volunteer position involves contacting bereaved caregivers and family members once a week. VITAS provides a Zoom training with detailed instructions for making the Bereavement calls and staff provide ongoing guidance and supervision.
If you enjoy talking on the phone, helping others and would like to make a difference directly from your own home in the lives of bereaved families, being a Bereavement Caller Volunteer is right for you. Please note that this volunteer opportunity is for Missouri and Illinois applicants only. It requires having a computer with internet access and involves the use of basic Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
Every VITAS volunteer receives training in hospice philosophy, how to support patients & families, health/safety precautions and more. As a Bereavement Caller Volunteer, you are able to use your compassion, listening skills to give back to hospice families in the community.
