At Mercy Housing, we seek volunteers who are committed to racial equity, diversity, and inclusion. We believe we are more effective when diverse groups of people, including residents and volunteers, feel valued, respected, and included.

As a Mercy Housing CA volunteer, you can help to create healthy, stable and vibrant communities. Using your passion for youth and education, with a little bit of time, you can do a lot of good. We’d love for you to join us in supporting youth to help them build community, friendships, resiliency, and enhance their school performance.

Kennedy Estates is a 100-unit affordable housing community for low-income families. We are in need of volunteers to assist with tutoring, helping to keep the community room cleaned and organized, assist with special events, holidays and helping to keep the outside garden boxes cleared of weeds and debris. The request is for volunteers during the week, we can discuss the best times for you.

Mission Statement

To create stable, vibrant and healthy communities by developing, financing and operating affordable, program-enriched housing for families, seniors and people with special needs who lack the economic resources to access quality, safe housing opportunities.

Description

Mercy Housing was founded in 1981 in response to the lack of stable, affordable housing for vulnerable populations. In working to fulfill our mission, Mercy Housing California has developed more than 154 affordable housing communities in 36 counties throughout California, providing 17,000+ homes and serving over 24,000 people in need.

Mercy's commitment to program-enriched housing distinguishes us from many other large scale affordable housing developers. Housing is foundational - everyone needs a home. But many people who have endured poverty and other challenges need an additional hand-up to create the lives they want for themselves and their families. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work with residents right in their homes and neighborhoods on issues like health and wellness, housing stability, financial security as well as provide a full range of enriching out-of-school time options for youth.
