Becoming a volunteer mentor (a Big!) is more important now than ever.
Our agency serves young people from age six through young adulthood in one-to-one mentoring friendships that help ignite their potential. There are no special skills required to be a trusted friend, you just need a few hours a month to make a difference.
Each match is supported by a dedicated Match Support Specialist who is always there to provide resources and support specific to the Little’s age and circumstances. With a Big in their life, Littles in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program are empowered to reach their greatest potential as they grow in their self-esteem, earn better grades, and develop a lifelong friendship with their Big.

Mission Statement
For the past 47 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal & Northern New Jersey (BBBSCNNJ) has been making a positive difference in the lives of children through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships with adult volunteers.
Description
BBBSCNNJ provides one-to-one mentoring for youth ages 6-18 through our Community Based, School Based, Workplace, College, Bigs in Blue, Creating Access to Resources, Events, and Support (C.A.R.E.S.), and Youth Empowerment programs. By placing children in a quality mentoring relationship, we are able to provide them with the tools they need to become competent, confident, and caring members of their community.
We partner with parents/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community and hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships; avoidance of risky behaviors; and educational success. We currently represent 10 counties in New Jersey, including Bergen, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren.
