We are always looking for additional people to help with horse chores at our location in Littlerock, California. Volunteers can come anytime after 3 P.M. (if you get off work at 5 and have to get here after that, that's just fine!) We are usually done in about two hours. Minors are welcome with a parent present at all times. You do not need experience but you need to be ok with mud, handling hay, etc. and able to do some lifting. We muck pastures, stuff hay bags for horses, and dump and scrub water troughs. These horses are all retired and we do not do any riding here. It's just horse care! We also have a lot of miscellaneous tasks to do around the place like weeding and minor handyman projects, if you've got those skills.
We are happy to complete paperwork if you have required volunteer hours for work or school. Community service welcome as long as it's for something minor/non violent/not involving drugs or theft; we do background check here.

Mission Statement
Polo Pony Rescue, Inc. exists to rescue equines, primarily former polo ponies, that have been neglected, abused, seized by law enforcement or at risk of slaughter, provide any needed veterinary care, rehabilitation or retraining, and find them new, loving homes. We also offer permanent retirement to horses who have physical or mental conditions rendering them no longer able to be ridden. Our emphasis is on ensuring the equines who pass through our program are fully rehabilitated before being adopted out, and remain safe for the remainder of their lives. We also work to educate the community on excellent horse care and responsible ownership to decrease the need for equine rescue in the future.

- We do not require any specific time commitment but we do ask that you not sign up for a shift unless you are certain you can come.
- You will be exposed to mud, horse manure, hay, bugs, etc. and the work needs to be done rain or shine. It's a farm!
