We currently have several unpaid, volunteer positions to fill, all of which are listed below. While qualifications vary based on the positions, all Life Letters interns must be communicative, passionate, organized, and dependable. Life Letters interns work part-time and roughly five hours a week. All positions are remote. If you'd like to contribute in a way that's not specified here, please contact us through our website, life-letters.org.

Artist/Animator- responsibilities include using your own creativity and style in portraying messages and creating mental health-related content for zines and short videos, occasionally based on a specific idea or image.

Visit @LifeLetters on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube to see the kind of images/videos we create.

Editing: responsibilities include proofreading the letters submitted to us, making sure they’re easily readable but not altering content unless it’s toxic or confusing, adding keywords that describe the social identity of the narrator, including a content warning for things that could trigger a reader, and posting the final version on WordPress with tags and specific formatting.

Research: responsibilities include doing research to create surveys that collect data measuring mental health-related variables-such as happiness or self-care-collecting preexisting data in order to create statistics that support our projects and efforts, and collecting emails for organizations or individuals interested in supporting Life Letters, which might mean crafting spreadsheets with social justice organizations, mental health institutions, or therapy places and their information.

Writing: responsibilities include creating short stories portraying mental health/illness struggles and the societal challenges that come along with it using their own creativity and style. Writers will be able to choose from a list of mental health topics or suggest their own. A direction to take the story in and research surrounding the mental illness/battle will be provided if needed.

Video editing: responsibilities include recording content to post on our channels--like letters or scripts being read or video games being played, like Crossy Road or Subway Surfers--and editing that content to cut out mistakes or blips in the film as well as adding subtitles, appropriate music, or nicely timed commentary/memes to enhance the entertainment of the audience.
