Direct Hospice Patient Volunteers- should be good listeners, dependable, and have a desire to help others. These volunteers must also be comfortable going into Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, and patient's homes to provide the following and help comfort the patients and to often relieve the caregivers:
- Provide companionship
- Emotional and spiritual support
- Just sit with a patient
- Read, Sing, or play a game with them
- Help prepare and set up meals or snacks (if asked by Caregiver)
- Provide caregiver relief
