ORGANIZATION: Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats

Can you lend a paw?

We have opportunities to Teach our 'Academl' students (kittens), located near West Centinela Avenue is an enclosure space and adoption venue for our adoptable kitties - those who have been socialized, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated so are ready for their forever homes! The Academy curriculum is designed to help our rescue kittens transition into a forever homes. Having come from the more regimented (best for socialization and medical oversight) schedule at the Academy, we focus on enrichment, exploration, and acclimation. While the kits continue to receive lesson plans from our volunteers throughout the day, the focus is on individualized tutoring. While one student may be ready to explore his surroundings on a leash. another may prefer to watch the birdies from your arms.

Currently, we are in immediate need of 'teachers' to care for our feline students Monday to Sunday.

All opportunities are open to individuals or small 2-3 person teams (space is limited) over the age of 18, and weekly shifts are fairly flexible. Generally, each shift lasts 2.5 hours, and breakfast is served 9am to 11:30am and dinner 3:30pm to 6pm.

In addition to feeding, volunteers tidy, scoop, provide general care and teach kittens on proper pet deportment (socialization and play) plus grooming - trim nails, brush and wash little faces and paws if needed! All training is provided!

Kitty Bungalow is Southern California's only 100% feral cat rescue and socialization facility. As shelter interventionists, we focus our attention on the most vulnerable of felines. At the Charm School we break down the anxiety of feral cats with our nearly 100 volunteers who use guided socialization techniques and 'lesson plans', taking these street cats from 'hiss to home'. Kittens who have completed their lesson plans and are ready for adoption are enrolled in our University, where they polish their pet skills and find forever homes! Our rescue is more than just finding homes for the homeless; we are working at the root of the problem, also providing broad based Trap Neuter Return (TNR) and free spays and neuters to neighborhoods in need within Los Angeles.

Fill our our volunteer application at https://www.kittybungalow.org/volunteer-opportunities or email volunteers@kittybungalow.org and an application will be forwarded.
