Hospice Patient Companion Volunteers are needed in the MID-DEL AREA of the OKC metro!

Are you an "expressive" type of person who enjoys talking with folks? Do you have compassion and good conversational skills? Do you enjoy activities that are meaningful and fulfilling? If so, you'll really like serving as a HOSPICE PATIENT COMPANION VOLUNTEER! This position provides a wonderful relationship-building experience, and we need some volunteers to visit with our patients in the Mid-Del area. Below are just some of the fun activities you can enjoy with your assigned patient --

--Make scheduled visits to the patient/family offering support, encouragement, and help.

--Sit and visit with the patient for companionship, providing respite for family members.

--Make crafts with the patient and/or read to them, or watch TV /movies with them.

--Report patient observations and reactions regarding changes in patient status to the Volunteer Coordinator, who will in turn contact the appropriate RN Case Manager.

--Document your visits on a Volunteer Visit Note.

--Attend in-services and annual memorial services.

--Be recognized at our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner!

--Practice infection control and universal precautions to ensure the safety of the patient.

--Live the PLUS* Standards in the care of patients, tasks, and interactions with others.

Thanks so much for your interest - we look forward to talking with you soon!

*PLUS Standards include: Performance, Leadership, Understanding, and Service.
