How can you make a difference in the community?

At Adult Guardianship Services (AGS), we believe that the work of a guardian is not only essential but also within reach for individuals with busy schedules. We are here to provide guidance, support, and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.

As guardians, our role is straightforward yet incredibly important. We are appointed by the Summit County Probate Court to assist individuals who are no longer able to manage their own affairs. Our focus is on serving indigent adults residing in a community setting, a Skilled or Long-term Care facilities, Group Homes, or Assisted Living facilities when they lack willing or able family members or friends to become their legal guardians.

As a guardian, your primary objective will be to ensure the safety and well-being of your wards, working tirelessly to meet their needs. It's important to note that guardianship does not require you to be a live-in or hands-on caregiver, nor does it involve providing financial assistance to your wards. AGS Guardians are considered Guardian of Person and do not make financial decisions.

Upon completing the initial on-line training, you will be empowered to make a minimum of one case contact per month, make decisions concerning your ward's necessary treatments, participate in Quarterly Care Conferences, and prepare an annual report and annual plan to be submitted to the Probate Court.

At AGS, we understand that your time is valuable, and we are here to support you throughout your journey as a Guardian. Our team is committed to providing the necessary resources, ongoing assistance, and a welcoming community that stands with you every step of the way.

By becoming a Guardian, you will join a compassionate network of individuals who make a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable adults. Your dedication and commitment will have a profound impact, ensuring that those in need receive the care, attention, and support they deserve.

We warmly invite you to embark on this rewarding journey with Adult Guardianship Services. Together, we can enhance the lives of those who rely on our advocacy, compassion, and dedication.

Description

In Summit County, the importance of guardianship cannot be overstated when it comes to ensuring the safety, well-being, and dignity of vulnerable individuals.

Summit County, like many other regions, has witnessed a rise in the number of indigent individuals in recent years. These are community members who lack the financial means and support systems necessary to effectively manage their own affairs. Unfortunately, this vulnerable population often faces significant challenges in accessing essential services, making decisions, and safeguarding their well-being.

Guardians play a pivotal role in keeping our community safe and healthy. By taking on the responsibilities of a guardian, these dedicated individuals ensure that the basic needs of indigent wards are met, including housing, healthcare, and access to necessary support services. They act as advocates, liaising with service providers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure the rights and dignity of their wards are protected.

By becoming a guardian, individuals have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of those who cannot advocate for themselves. Let us come together as a community, recognizing the importance of this role and taking action to meet the growing need for guardianship services in Summit County. Together, we can create a safer, healthier, and more compassionate community for all.
