At AccentCare we strive to offer uniquely rewarding internship experiences, including the opportunity to directly serve patients and families. The contributions our interns make are invaluable, which is why they are directly included in the coordination of care among the interdisciplinary team. Interns receive many opportunities to learn from an experienced staff of all disciplines. Interns improve their psychosocial support skills as they are exposed to a variety of clinical settings, demographics, and diagnoses. In addition, interns learn clinical documentation via an electronic medical record under the close supervision of staff members. We are proud of the role we play in training upcoming professionals to understand and care for patients facing life-limiting illnesses and consider an internship a success when the intern leaves feeling as if they were treated as a valued, equal member of the team. Accent Care of Pinellas is a hospice that serves adults in their home, skilled nursing facility or assisted living centers. We have two in-patient units that also accommodate end of life, symptom management, and respite care. Our interns can expect an educational environment among LCSW, MSW, RN, LPN, Chaplains, Music Therapists and a variety of disciplines learning end of life dialogue. Interns are able to provide bed-side support to patients and families, gain experience in bereavement support groups, care giver support groups and experience in EMR documentation. Interns can expect dedicated weekly time with their supervisor, our Director of Patient Experience, an LCSW Qualified Supervisor and with other team members that will mentor and focus on their growth and internship experience. Interns can expect to shadow and practice: Case management, intake, multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical mental health/biopsychosocial assessment, individual therapy, group/family therapy, discharge planning, evidence-based treatment/interventions, interprofessional collaborative care, clinical case management, crisis intervention. Interns will need their own car and valid car insurance. Mileage is reimbursed. Although our office is in Clearwater, FL, we service all of Pinellas County by meeting our patients wherever they call home. Interns must complete their avg. weekly hours during regular business hours of Monday - Friday 8:30am -5:00pm. Interns generally avg 16-18 hours per week. Interns will receive all necessary equipment for their role, which may include a laptop, tablet and cell phone.
