Be compassionate. Be present. Be a part of the Providence Hospice volunteer community.
Providence Hospice volunteers are valued members of our care teams. The biggest gift one can give is often time and an open heart. You do not need any special skills- only a willingness to bring compassion and comfort to our patients and families. Volunteers work in a nonclinical capacity wherever the patient resides, in their home or facility.
Patient and Family Support volunteering might include activities such as:
- Be a friendly visitor - Reading, listening to music, sharing stories
- Meet practical needs - Pickup groceries, light housework or yardwork
- Provide emotional support - Empathic listening, phone calls, letter writing
- Give caregiver support- Sitting with patient so caregiver can leave the home for a short break
- And many more!
Our team will help you discover your strengths and guide you toward your best role. Comprehensive trainings are tailored to each position to ensure volunteers are confident and comfortable in their responsibilities. All volunteer roles support our core values of compassion, justice, dignity, integrity, and excellence.
