CHiPS mission is to ameliorate food insecurity and homelessness in NYC. Our soup kitchen and food pantry serve as many as 150 meals daily. We are staffed by a group of dedicated volunteers who come together to ensure our neighbors have a place to turn for delicious, healthy meals.
As a Grant Writing and Support Volunteer you will volunteer to support the Development and Communications Department with grant research, writing, and support.
Helpful volunteer skills are having experience with grant research, writing, and management with a focus on non-profit grant writing. Strong writing and communication skills, ability to take direction and carry out tasks with minimal supervision. This is a virtual role, 10 hours per week. Staff are available for volunteer support between 9 AM - 5 PM EST, Volunteers can choose their preferred time of day/week to complete tasks.
Requested length of service: We would prefer long-term service, 6+ months is ideal.

HUNGER FREE AMERICA (formerly known as the New York City Coalition Against Hunger) is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grass-roots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.
Our long-term goal is not just to ameliorate the problem, but also to build the people’s movement necessary to enact the economic and public policies needed to end hunger entirely. Given that hunger drains our economy and tears at our moral and civic fabric, we know that eliminating it will boost the nation both economically and spiritually. Towards that end, we’ve adopted the motto: "Ending hunger lifts us all."
