Rivers are the lifeblood of many communities as they supply drinking water; irrigate crops; power our cities, support fish and other wildlife species; and provide countless jobs and recreational opportunities.
As these rivers flow through cities, towns, and agricultural areas they collect millions of pounds of plastic, marine debris, fertilizers, and sediment that will eventually end up in our coastal communities and ocean.
By working on upstream issues you will not only be able to stop marine pollution at its source but also help clean up, educate, empower, and restore communities along these rivers.
Role and responsibilities include:
Engage communities, organizations, and volunteers throughout Kentuckiana. Assist in developing and monitoring community outreach programs and events that will educate, and empower individuals and communities.
- Recruit volunteers for cleanups, restoration, and education events
- Assist in developing volunteer program as well as assist in recruiting the Volunteer Coordinator
- Engage the community
- Build professional and lasting relationships with community stakeholders, partners, and organizations
- Assist in all aspects of community cleanup, restoration, and education events
- Monitor the growth and success of the Coastlove Upstream program.
Must live in Louisville Kentucky or Southern Indiana
