The mission of the Volunteer Services Council (VSC) of TCID is to Improve the quality of life for patients with Tuberculosis and Hansen's disease as well as the staff who serve them through the creation of diverse partnerships, promoting advocacy initiatives, and bridging community resources.
Help us by assisting with in-house patient activities like: loteria, bingo, book club, movie nights and many other activities! These activities can be scheduled around YOUR time. You find more upcoming events on our instagram @vsctcid!
**All volunteer opportunities offered by TCID that include patients, are with noninfectious patients.
We also offer applications without background checks if you want to check out what it is like volunteering at TCID. The background check is if you plan to continue to volunteer at multiple events in the future.

The Texas Center for Infectious Disease will medically, behaviorally, and socially treat tuberculosis and Hansen's disease patients and advance the nation's prevention and treatment of infectious disease through person-centered care, collaboration, research, and education.
Description
Volunteer programs have been an important part of the Texas Center for Infectious Disease (TCID) since 1953, when the San Antonio State Tuberculosis Hospital was established. Volunteers are involved in providing opportunities and activities for the patients, assisting staff with ongoing service projects, fundraising initiatives, and more
The Volunteer Service Council provides services through the generosity of community agencies, civil organizations, private donors and grants while working within authorities granted by DSHS and state law. All opportunities offered by TCID that involve patients are with noninfectious patients. Infection control is our top priority and assure safety to all of our visitors.
