This is a fun and rewarding volunteer experience. You will get into the pool to assist individuals with disabilities during adapted swimming and water exercise classes. Volunteers provide physical support, personalized instruction and encouragement to adapted aquatics class participants. Volunteers will be under the direct supervision of a trained class instructor, who will lead the group through learn-to-swim exercises and water safety activities. Volunteers do not have to be expert swimmers, but must be comfortable in the water and have basic swim skills. Volunteers can anticipate working with children ages 4 to 12 with intellectual, developmental, physical and other disabilities. Volunteers must be able to commit to a two to three hour class session for approximately six weeks.
