We would love to talk to you about an exciting volunteer opportunity! The Tampa Bay Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) is looking to fill our Event Experience Chair position.
In this role, you will focus on creating an enjoyable experience for participants at PurpleStride Tampa Bay, PanCAN's signature fundraising walk and community event. You would work closely with other members of the PurpleStride Committee to help execute PurpleStride successfully. The ideal volunteer for this role is a strong communicator! Training will be provided.PanCAN volunteers raise funds and awareness year-round to support research and clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy, and community engagement work. Our volunteers support us in a number of capacities, including social media, public awareness campaigns, fundraising, event planning, and government advocacy.
We need you because pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers; the five-year survival rate is only 12%. It is currently the third leading cause of all cancer-related death in the US. We need people like you to help us create a world where all patients with pancreatic cancer will thrive.

PanCAN was the first organization dedicated to fighting pancreatic cancer in a comprehensive way, and for more than two decades, we’ve grown a nationwide movement tackling the disease from all angles.
- Research: We fund transformative research - everything from early detection to innovative new treatment approaches.
- Patient Services: We provide information about treatment options, diet and nutrition, support resources and more, and we can answer all your questions along the way.
- Advocacy: We work with thousands of grassroots advocates to urge Congress to increase federal research funding for pancreatic cancer, and we get results.
- Community: Be part of our movement! You can volunteer locally, participate in a PurpleStride community event or host your own fundraiser.
