We are looking for experienced digital and social media marketing experts to help us reach a wider audience with the aim of fundraising for our project activities through the sale of our merchandise and donations from well-wishers locally and abroad.

The ideal volunteer should have experience in this field and should be willing to go the extra mile to help us put a smile in the faces of the little school children in Kenya through our Fruity Rangers Initiative.

We are a small charity and will need all the help we can get if we are to create lasting solutions and impact the lives of millions of children in Africa through our Fruity Schools Project. More information about us and the project are below.

Who we are

Fruity Schools Africa is registered with the NGO’s Board as a Not-for-Profit Non-Governmental Organization in Kenya.

What we do

We grow certified grafted fruit trees in schools, hospitals, smallholder farms and selected public spaces as a climate change mitigation measure, a food and nutrition security strategy and a carbon offsetting project.

Our goal

We aim to create sustainable Gardens of Eden in 35,000 Schools, 10,000 Hospitals, 5,000 smallholder farms and selected public spaces in Kenya.

The idea is to establish thriving orchards of at least 100 fruity trees in each facility by 2030 as a direct contribution towards attaining the SDGs.

The problem

Over 7 million children (46%) attending public schools and those visiting public health facilities come from humble backgrounds, and their parents live below the poverty line.

These children lack access to proper nutrition, healthcare, and other basic necessities, leading to health issues and hindering their ability to focus and learn in school.

The intervention

Our idea is to co-create thriving ecosystems. Through our Fruity Rangers initiative, we recruit, inspire, train and engage thousands of students to become green change makers through experiential learning to grow their food and care for their planet and each other.

Through Fruity Rangers: We inspire thousands of the next generation change-makers and build the capacity of tomorrow’s food producers today while making tomorrow habitable and sustainable for all.

The impact

We have six years to do everything possible to achieve the set 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

We have planted over 84,000 fruity trees in over 500 schools, 100 hospitals, six public parks and 100 smallholder farms across Kenya.

We have established a certified fruity tree nursery with over 500,000 fruity seedlings and are working to expand it to produce over 5 million seedlings annually for the next six years.

Our project will directly contribute to the attainment of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as briefly described below:

1. Grafted fruity trees will mature and produce within three years.
2. Each tree will produce 300 to 500 fruits every season.
3. Each tree will live for over 40 years while feeding humans and wildlife.
4. The trees will provide a habitat for millions of wildlife.
5. The trees will sequester over 18 million tons of carbon.
6. The trees will contribute to food and nutrition security.
7. The project will create employment across the value chain for millions.

Description

Who we are

Fruity Schools Africa is registered with the NGO’s Board as a Non-Governmental Organization in Kenya under registration number OP.218/051/20-345/11949.

What we do

We grow certified fruit trees in schools, health centres, and smallholder farms as a climate change mitigation measure, a food and nutrition security strategy and a carbon offsetting project.

Our Mission

Our mission is to plant, protect and promote the growth of Fruity Trees in partnership with local communities to transform landscapes and lives, provide a habitat for wildlife, and support carbon sequestration from our atmosphere.

Our goal

We specialize in getting fruity trees in the ground. Our goal is to create sustainable Gardens of Eden here on Earth where there is an abundance of Fruits for humans and wildlife, where the air is clean and fresh and where biodiversity thrives. We aim to grow a minimum of 100 fruity trees in each of the 35,000 public schools and the over 5,000 hospitals in Kenya by 2027

Achievement

Since inception, we have planted over 64,000 fruity trees in over 500 schools, 83 hospitals and three parks. This is a tiny dot in the equation of growing 10 million fruity trees that will greatly contribute to the ongoing efforts by the Government to grow 15 billion trees in Kenya.
